Experience

With a major in English and a minor in creative writing, I have participated in endless writing workshops in which we analyze and pick apart our classmates' writing in order to improve our writing skills and organize information most effectively. I have found this process of editing and offering feedback has led to successful final pieces and learning opportunities. My classes have ranged from theory and criticism, to several genres of creative writing, and most recently an advanced class in Rhetoric, Syntax, and Style which has raised my grammatical and organizational skills to a greater level of understanding which I am excited to share with others as they work to improve their writing.

I returned to college two and a half years ago after taking eight years off to work. When I returned to college I had a renewed passion for learning that resulted from many years in the "real world" and a better understanding of the importance in education. I recently turned thirty so I am not the age of most recent grads. I can provide a little more maturity and life experience in my teaching. On a personal note...I am a huge animal lover! I volunteer for a dog rescue organization which transports dogs weekly from high-kill shelters in the South into foster homes and adoptive families in New England. Since last February my husband I have fostered eleven dogs until they found their forever home. I also edit the monthly newsletter for the group. My other interests range from music, art, and fashion to cooking, yoga, and tennis. At my day job I am always in conversation with my clients so I should have no problem finding something to talk about with your child!
